A Redding man accused of murdering his mother and brother has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Last September 2nd, Redding Police arrived at a home on Abernathy Lane to find Chastity Milenewicz and Anthony Penta shot to death. 32-year-old Jesse Penta was arrested at the scene. He’s charged with two counts of murder, as well as a special allegation of murder for financial gain. His initial lawyer questioned his mental competency and he was evaluated by two doctors, who said he understood the charges against him. Penta then chose to fire his counsel and represent himself. In June he changed his mind and requested a new lawyer, and he was appointed one. His trial date was delayed until October to give his attorney time to prepare. Now the setting of a trial has again been delayed so he can again be examined to determine his mental state.
