The Upstate California Film Commission, which markets the area for filmmakers and directs them to locales and resources, is getting some drug money. From 2022 through 2025 the commission supported 182 regional productions. Last week the Tehama County Major Crimes Unit’s Anti-Drug/Anti-Gang Board awarded $25,000 to the commission, saying they’ve been longtime financial supporters. The commission recently launched a program providing Tehama County students a hands-on introduction to filmmaking careers. The money for the grant comes from seizures of drug dealer proceeds.
