The Shasta County Board of Education has changed the language of its anti-discrimination and harassment policy to exclude any mention of transgender of non-binary individuals. The protection apparently remain in place, but more generally for all students and not particularly those identified as LGBTQ+. Some members of the board and the public considered the previous language redundant while others believe it should have remained in place because of the particular danger faced by those students.
