A man who stabbed a fellow resident of a North Redding transitional living facility a year ago has been found guilty of first degree murder by a Shasta County jury. 28-year-old Matthew Jacob Riddle fatally stabbed 42-year-old Cy Jonathon Johnson on September 26th of last year at Stability Solutions off Collyer Drive. Riddle was quickly apprehended by Redding Police who saw him running across Highway 299. The two men had apparently been involved in a fight after Riddle falsely accused Johnson of being a sex offender. After the fight, Riddle found a kitchen knife and stabbed Johnson multiple times in the stomach. The jury returned its verdict Wednesday. Riddle’s sentencing is set for October 8th.
