A pedestrian died after being struck by a big rig in Red Bluff Monday evening. At around 6:30PM the 36-year-old driver of a semi truck was eastbound in the slow lane of Antelope Boulevard near Bud’s Jolly Kone when a 72-year-old woman tried to walk across in front of the truck from the north side of the road. The trucker hit his brakes but was unable to stop in time. Red Bluff Firefighters began life saving measures and an ambulance transported the woman to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital, but she did not survive. Red Bluff Police say the truck driver does not appear to have been speeding and they do not suspect drugs or alcohol.
