Man Injured By Birdshot After Being Shot At By Neighbor In Siskiyou County

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office has just released information about a shooting that occurred September 5th. Fairchild Medical Center reported a gunshot victim, so deputies responded and spoke to 49-year-old Baojue Lin of Elk Grove. He had pellets of birdshot in his head, shoulder, face and torso. He said that at 10:30AM that morning he was cooking breakfast at his fathers property in the Mount Shasta Vista Subdivision when he heard his dogs barking. He went outside and was immediately struck by the birdshot. He could not identify the shooter but said it was one of two brothers who live on the property next door. Deputies went to the location off County Road A-12 and spoke to 39-year-old Russell Asher. He reportedly said he fired multiple rounds from his Shotgun when Lin’s dog ran toward his fence, and that he fired at Lin because Lin was shooting at him with a handgun. Both properties were searched and a handgun was not found. Asher was booked into jail for assault with a gun and battery.
