A Redding man was badly burned early Thursday morning in a motorhome fire. At around 5:30am a homeless man was walking by the location on Cedars Road south of Riviera Drive when he saw the burning RV next to a house. He pounded on the locked door and did not get a response so he broke a window and pulled the occupant out. Redding Fire Department personnel arrived a short time later and the motorhome was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters provided medical care to the burned man until an ambulance transported him to Mercy Hospital in critical condition. Crews extinguished the fire and protected the adjacent house, which sustained some damage to an eave. A wood fence also burned. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $10,000.
