CHP Helicopter Crews Rescues Injured Hiker

A woman camping alone had to be rescued after being injured and getting stuck outside. 72-year-old Mary Beth Granberry’s family last heard from her last Monday, and she said she would be back by Thursday. She was reported missing Friday and on Saturday her family found her vehicle at the Cabin Creek Trailhead in Shasta County. A search was launched Sunday by Shasta and Siskiyou County Search and Rescue, along with the CHP. Ground teams found Mary Beth along the trail near the creek. She was conscious but had been seriously injured from a fall and unable to walk, so she had suffered from exposure as well. She was hoisted by a CHP helicopter to a landing zone, and a medical helicopter took her to Mercy in Redding. Mary Beth is in stable condition and is expected to recover.
