A head-on collision in January between a Tehama County Public Transit Bus and a pickup that killed six people was an intentional act, according to CHP Investigators. A Corning woman crossed over the center line into the path of a TRAX Bus Highway 99-W south of Gyle Road. The collision killed her along with bus driver Kelly Langstaff and four bus passengers, Cassandra Moreno, John Perry, Oscar Carrillo and Trena Cain. An autopsy on pickup truck driver showed Methamphetamine, and she left writings indicating suicidal thoughts. Vehicle data showed she made no effort to stop before the crash. Dash cam footage revealed an incident from the previous day in which she crossed in front of a garbage truck, but they didn’t collide because the garbage truck driver swerved away. She will be listed as a victim of suicide and the other 5 as victims of homicide. Anyone struggling with thoughts of suicide can speak with someone anonymously anytime at 9-8-8.
