The Redding Peace Officers Association has formally objected to cuts made by the Redding City Council. In a letter from the union’s board, the RPOA urges the council to make cuts to other departments instead, saying the loss of the six officers will undoubtedly have a negative impact on public safety. The council had said the cuts were to positions that are not currently filled, so there would be no layoffs.
