Two People Killed In Multiple Vehicle Crash Near Orland

Two people died in a three vehicle crash in Glenn County on Saturday afternoon. It happened on Highway 45 east of Orland. The driver of a Toyota Tacoma pulled into the oncoming lane to pass two vehicles but the driver of a Ford Ranger had the same idea and pulled into the path of the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota swerved to try and avoid a collision and drove onto the gravel shoulder, causing her to lose control and strike the side of the Ford, pushing it into a Chevy Volt. The Ranger and the Volt both left the road and went into an Almond orchard, striking multiple trees. The Ranger then overturned and ejected both occupants, neither of whom were wearing seatbelts. The 72-year-old female driver and the 68-year-old male passenger both died. The Volt driver had minor injuries. The Toyota driver was not injured. The CHP is still investigating.
