A man was shot after fleeing law enforcement Tuesday night. The chase started just before 8PM in Shasta Lake City, where a shooting of a woman was reported on Los Gatos Avenue. The suspect fled in a silver Dodge pickup onto Interstate 5 and sped into Downtown Redding. It went on a wild route that included a dash around the Auditorium area and back out again. Officers reported during the chase that the driver was firing shots at them. The chase eventually ended at Cypress and Hartnell at around 8:20PM, where a pit maneuver disabled the truck. The driver, 32-year-old Reese Colton Churulich, allegedly began firing on officers as soon as he got out of the truck, and numerous officers returned gunfire. Churulich was transported to a hospital. Information has not been released about Churulich’s condition or the condition of his alleged shooting victim in Shasta Lake City. No officers were injured.
