Elections Office Says About 29,000 Ballots Remain Uncounted As Of Thursday

The Shasta County Elections Office reported to the state Thursday that it has tabulated about 35,000 ballots so far and an estimated 29,000 remain to be processed. That makes many local races still too close to call.

— Mike Gallagher has increased his lead in the District 5 Shasta County Board of Supervisor’s race, with 58% over incumbent Chris Kelstrom’s 42%.
— In the Redding City Council Contest, Russ Wenham and Tenessa Audette have comfortable leads, while Mark Mezzano and Christina Prosperi battle for the third seat.
— The 2 seats for Anderson City Council have likely been won by Stan Neutze and Lexus Alexander.
— In Shasta Lake City it appears Justin Jones and Pam Morgan will retain their seats.

Shasta County’s Measure F for filling department head positions is approved, as well as Measure E concerning eminent domain. The Shasta College bond measure is behind with 47% approval. The County Board of Education races are still too close to call.
