Mother Accused Of Intentionally Overdosing 2-Year-Old Daughter To Remain In Custody

A young Redding mother accused of murdering her own baby will not be set free, at least not for now. In January medical help was called to Deschutes Road at Highway 44 in Palo Cedro for an unresponsive 2-year-old girl in a car. The child later died. Redding Police detectives believe the mother, 21-year-old Macie Marie Silvey, had fed the little girl multiple prescription drugs to intentionally cause an overdose, and then drove her to a rural area to prevent her receiving medical care in time. Silvey was booked into jail last Tuesday for kidnapping and murder. An in-custody arraignment was set for last Friday but it was continued to the 22nd. Silvey was appointed a public defender and will remain in custody with no bail allowed.
