Elections Security Expert Makes Case For Open Source Voting Machines At Supervisors Meeting

Shasta County Supervisors Chair Patrick Jones is again toying with the idea of an alternative voting system that’s not been approved by the state. A speaker during Tuesday’s public comment period was Brent Turner, a self-proclaimed elections security expert invited by Jones. Turner does not advocate hand counting, which he says is less accurate and more prone to error. He also dislikes the proprietary software that runs the state-approved voting machines. What Turner is trying to promote is “open source” software that he says would provide more public transparency.
