Officers Remove Around 3,500 Pounds Of Material During Community Cleanup

Redding Police did a major cleanup of homeless camps off Parkview Avenue. Nearby residents had complaining about the camps behind Crown Motors. On Thursday officers swept into the camps and cleared all the people out. Several of them were cited for allowing garbage and human waste to pollute a creek that flows into the Sacramento River. Community Work Program Officers also cleared out a large camp behind the old Veterans Affairs Clinic on Hartnell Avenue and another one at the end of Venture Parkway near Stillwater Business Park. Between the three locations, around 3,500 Pounds of material was removed.
