A man has been arrested on suspicion of starting a series of fires behind a county-owned building Yreka. Monday Yreka Fire Department was dispatched to a trash can fire behind the Public Health Offices on South Main Street. Firefighters and Yreka Police Officers arrived to find four different fires burning. While the flames were extinguished and officers searched the nearby Yreka Creek Greenway, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputies found Eric Day Jr near a separate fire several blocks away. After a brief standoff, day was arrested on several felony counts of arson. Witnesses are encouraged to call 841-2300.
