Two Businesses Sell Tobacco To Minor Decoy During Sting Operation

An underage retail tobacco sting was done by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday in a partnership with Health and Human Services. Much like an alcohol sting, a minor decoy under 21-years-old is used to attempt tobacco purchases. Deputies brought the decoy to 15 different retail stores and the purchase was successful at two of them, Shasta Smoke Shop in Shasta Lake City and Happy Valley Market. The sheriff’s office has a grant to continue performing more tobacco stings in the future.
