Alleged Gang Member Arrested Early Saturday After Reportedly Brandishing Stolen Gun

A was man arrested by Corning Police for allegedly brandishing a stolen gun at a woman. Officers responded to the report a little before 3AM Saturday and spotted a car matching the description, so they pulled it over at Houghton and Yolo Streets. Upon approaching the car, officers saw the firearm in the backseat and it turned into a high risk stop with guns drawn. The driver, Manuel Zavala Cuevas, was detained. The gun turned out to be not an assault rifle but a semi automatic shotgun with a loaded magazine containing five birdshot shells. It had been reported stolen in a burglary in Nye County, Nevada along with 45 other guns. The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office says Cuevas is affiliated with the Nortenos gang. He was booked on 5 felonies and a misdemeanor.
