Supervisors Will Again Debate Code Of Conduct At Tuesday’s Meeting

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors will again debate over, and possibly approve, a new code of conduct for themselves. The issue has come up time and again, but it keeps getting shuffled to a future meeting. Tuesday’s item pits two sets of behavioral standards against each other. One is sponsored by Mary Rickert and Tim Garmin, while the other is sponsored by Kevin Crye. When Mary Rickert introduced a proposal last July she said she wants to hold supervisors to a high standard in hopes that an example will be set. Cyre had criticized the proposal made by Rickert and wanted to strip most of the resolution, including the removal of references to “Democracy” to replace them with “Constitutional Republic”. That code was defeated in a 3 to 2 vote.
