15 Candidates Will Be Interviewed Next Week For Open ROV Position

A lot of interest has been shown by applicants for the open position of Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters. The elected position is being appointed by the Board of Supervisors following the early retirement of the long-serving Cathy Darling-Allen due to health issues. The term runs through January of 2027. A lot of specialized knowledge is required to do the job effectively, but the only official qualifications are that the person be at least 18-years-old, a California resident who’s registered to vote in Shasta County, and cannot be affiliated with a collections agency. A total of 39 applications were received before last Friday’s deadline. The applications were screened by a panel made up of Supervisors Kevin Crye and Tim Garman and Support Services Director Monica Fugitt. 15 of the applicants were selected to move on to an interview process, which will be done by all five supervisors in open session next Tuesday and Wednesday. The regular board meeting that was set for Tuesday will be held on Monday instead.
