Full Weekend Of Events Planned To Mark The Sundial Bridge’s 20th Birthday

Some free events will take place starting this weekend to celebrate the 20th birthday of the Sundial Bridge, which officially opened on July 4th, 2004. The span designed by renowned Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava has become a symbol representing all things Redding-related. Four free performances by the vertical dance troupe Bandaloop will dazzle onlookers as they put on their show while suspended from the spire of the bridge. Those shows will be Friday and Saturday at 9:30AM and 8:15PM. The bridge will close starting a half hour before each show. Turtle Bay is selling VIP tickets to view the shows from prime locations in the arboretum. On Sunday there will be a free showing at the Cascade Theatre of the film Angle of Inspiration, which tells the story of the Sundial Bridge. It’s free, but pre-registration is required. There will also be a special Art Hunger Show at the IOOF Hall Downtown and a DJ on the Dial Dance Party. Details are at celebrate20.com.
