APD: Mother Arrested On Kidnapping Charges After Abducting Her Own Child

A Redding woman was arrested in Anderson on Monday for abducting her own child, a charge she’s faced before. At around 1 O’clock APD Officers responded to a Webster Drive foster home on a report that 31-year-old Antonia Clayborne had taken her child from a home and drove away. About 20 minutes later an officer spotted Clayborne’s car at a gas station at West Center and Briggs. The child was found safe and Clayborne was detained, then eventually booked into jail on charges including child abduction, felony child endangerment, and driving under the influence of drugs. In February of last year Clayborne was allegedly found passed out in her car, with her then-2-year-old child trying to get a baggie out of her hand that contained Fentanyl. That’s when she lost custody of the child. In late May of last year she was in a supervised visitation at Children’s Services on Yuba Street when she reportedly left with him. She later dropped him off with family members and turned herself in at the jail a few days later.
