Redding Rancheria is on schedule to open their Tribal Health Village in the Spring. The ambitious project has a budget of $230 Million. On Wednesday we joined a small group for a tour of the elaborate 198,000 square-foot healthcare and fitness facility being built across Clear Creek from the current Win River Casino on a piece of land accessible from Clear Creek Road. The tribe was motivated to build the health village after a study showed the average life expectancy of their members to be around 52-years-old. It’s not just for the tribe. Patients will be accepted with Medicare, Medi-Cal and Partnership Health Plans. The facility will have primary care physicians and various medical and dental services, but 87,000 square feet of the building is being dedicated to preventive medicine and fitness to promote healthy living. Glenn Hayward, who heads up the Tribal Health System for Redding Rancheria, will be a guest on KQMS Friday morning to tell us more.
