The Shasta County Elections Office has processed 54,171 ballots as of Tuesday afternoon. There are a couple of thousand more that need to be processed or cured, and a handful of mail-in ballots. The turnout so far is 47% of registered voters. Very little has changed in the percentages. Joanna Francescut has defeated Clint Curtis in the Clerk/Registrar of Voters race. Erin Resner will be the next District One Supervisor. In the District Five race, Mike Gallagher has 49%, just shy of the 50% mark, so he’ll likely be forced into a runoff with incumbent Chris Kelstrom in November. Measure B appears to have won at the ballot box with 55% approval but it will very likely be immediately challenged in court because virtually every provision it requires is a violation of state law. The next update from the elections office should be Wednesday evening.
