75 Year Lease Agreement Will Allow Safe Access To Mossbrae Falls

Many Dunsmuir residents, and tourists in the know, have always been willing to risk life and limb to get a glimpse of the breathtaking beauty of Mossbrae Falls. Reaching the falls requires trespassing along a roughly three-mile stretch of train tracks, leading sometimes to injuries caused by walking too close to passing trains. Now the City of Dunsmuir has signed a 75-year lease agreement with Union Pacific so a trail can be built within the railroad’s right-of-way passage to the secluded falls. Residents in that area have been advocating for the arrangement for decades and it’s expected that eventually, the falls could attract more than 200,000 visitors a year. It’s believed that could be a boon to the city’s economy.
