A Few Area Fires Started Over The Weekend

Fire season is not over, as evidenced by a few fires over the weekend.
— A vegetation fire prompted evacuations in Weaverville Friday morning. It broke out around 7:20am with a slow-to-moderate rate of spread. Sheriff’s Deputies went door-to-door evacuating residents from Democrat Gulch and Oregon Mountain Road. The fire was stopped at around 5 acres
— A motorhome went up in flames quickly in Cottonwood a little after midnight Friday night. It was parked near homes in the area of Crowley Court and Gas Point Road.
— A fire on Saturday was burning on both sides of Gyle Road in Corning. It started around 1 o’clock and forward progress was stopped about an hour later, but it then spread to 8.4 acres.
— A vegetation fire just west of Red Bluff Sunday threatened a structure but was stopped at 3-and-a-half acres. It started off Johnson Road a couple of miles south of Reeds Creed Road.
