Saturday is California Adopt-a-Pet Day, sponsored by several animal welfare organizations, and Haven Humane Society will celebrate by waiving adoption fees. It’s the third annual observance of Adopt-a-Pet Day and organizers are hoping to surpass 5,000 adoptions in a single day among the participating shelters in California. This Saturday, the ASPCA is providing grants to underwrite adoption fees at Haven, as well as Siskiyou Humane Society, Tehama County Animal Services, Butte Humane Society and the City of Chico Animal Shelter.
