The subject of a manhunt who was accused of an axe attack in north Redding was captured Friday afternoon. Thursday evening Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to Manzanoaks Drive off Oasis Road. John Yu had allegedly assaulted someone with an axe, breaking his arm, and smashed up the interior of the house as the other occupants fled upstairs and locked themselves in a bedroom. Yu reportedly followed them and struck the bedroom door with the axe before fleeing on foot with the axe in his hand. An extensive search of the area was done Thursday night. Yu was finally apprehended by Redding Police at around 3 o’clock Friday afternoon.
