Corning Police had to struggle with an angry cell phone customer. Just before 11am Friday an employee of Cricket Wireless on Solano Street called police to say a man was harassing her and she was afraid. When an officer got there, she was outside and had locked 35-year-old Jonathan Dirnu inside the store. While the officer was talking to the sales clerk, Dirnu reportedly used his cell phone to break a large plate glass window, and he stepped out and started walking away. The officer said he was under arrest and grabbed his arm and a struggle began. A second officer arrived and both were fighting with Dirnu until a nearby business owner held Dirnu’s legs down so he could be handcuffed. One of the officers had lacerations to a knee and hurt his ribcage. Dirnu was booked into jail.
