Annual Balloon Festival Returns To Montague This Weekend

There will be some extra color in the skies over Siskiyou County this weekend with the return of the Montague Balloon Festival. It’s not known how many balloons will fly, and it depends on the weather, but the Forest Service has confirmed that their Smokey Bear Balloon will be there for the 5th consecutive year. Organizers want to remind people of some common sense rules that should be observed in the vicinity of the hot air balloons: no smoking or vaping, no drones and no dogs. There will be a parade in Downtown Montague at Noon on Saturday, but most of the festival will take place at the Montague Airport with music, food and crafts. Breakfast is at 6AM and balloon launches begin at 7AM Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free for all the events. Details are at montagueballoonfair.com.
