A pedestrian died of his injuries after being struck on Highway 273 in Anderson Wednesday night. A little after 9:30PM the man had apparently been walking south on the northbound shoulder of the highway a little north of Briggs Street by the Fairgrounds. Witnesses said he was jumping in and out of traffic before he was struck by a vehicle, and then run over by another. Arriving medical personnel performed CPR on the man, who was transported to Mercy Hospital and later pronounced dead. His identity is withheld until family is notified. Anderson Police say both drivers were cooperative and neither of them was impaired. The northbound lanes of the highway were closed until almost Midnight. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has video surveillance is asked to call the APD at 378-6600.
