Attempted Murder Added for Alleged Vehicle Assaults

The District Attorney’s Office has increased the severity of charges against a Redding man accused of intentionally mowing down several people with his car. On February 8th Redding Police were called to Reservoir Lane twice, first for a verbal dispute. The second time, victims and witnesses told officers that 43-year-old Jesse Eneix had made threats and then drove his car at high speed toward the group. Several were able to jump out of the way but two were struck by the car and one was grazed. A resident provided surveillance video to corroborate the story. Eneix was stopped while trying to leave the area. Initially booked for driving under the influence and 5 counts of assault with a deadly weapon, the DA’s Office has added attempted murder. Eneix is being held without bail. His preliminary hearing is February 26th.
