The attorney for Tyler McCain wants to delay his murder trial and move it out of Shasta County. McCain is accused of killing his wife and the mother of his children, Nikki Saelee-McCain, to prevent her from testifying against him for domestic violence. She vanished in May of 2024 and was the subject of an intensive search campaign. This would be the first time a murder trial is held in Shasta County without the discovery of a body. There was apparently a lot of physical evidence in Nikki’s vehicle when it was found in Western Tehama County. Tyler is facing a dozen charges in the case. His jury trial was already delayed last November when the defense was granted a continuance because they said they needed more time to prepare. The trial had been set for later this month, but now the defense attorney, Michael Borges, says he needs more time to prepare a motion for a change of venue. He says he doesn’t believe a fair and impartial jury can be found in Shasta County. McCain remains in jail without bail.
