Big Rig Crashes Into Dry Creekbed On Highway 99 Near Los Molinos

The CHP is seeking possible witnesses to a big rig crash in Tehama County early Tuesday morning. At 3:37AM Joseph Tomlin was driving a tractor-trailer southbound on Highway 99 south of Butler Street in the Los Molinos area. He was sleepy and wanted to park and rest so he pulled onto the shoulder of the highway. Just then he was approaching the Mill Creek Bridge and the shoulder ended abruptly. The truck crashed through the guardrail and landed on its side in a dry part of the creekbed, rupturing a saddle tank and spilling about 40 Gallons of Diesel. Tomlin was extricated and transported by ambulance with minor injuries. Anyone with information is asked to call the Red Bluff CHP Office at 737-6746.
