Blood Donations Urgently Need As Supply Drops Due To Low Donor Turnout

There’s an emergency shortage of blood, according to Vitalant, who says the blood supply nationwide is suffering from an overall low donor turnout. All types are needed, especially the “O” types, which are the most versatile but are at a two year low. 39% of the population has 0+ blood and they can only receive type O blood. Anyone can receive O-negative blood. Platelets to help cancer patients are also desperately needed. Anyone who donates blood through August 8th will be entered into a contest to win a new car. An appointment can be made at vitalant.org or by calling 877-25-VITAL.
