State Assemblyman James Gallagher was in the Shasta County Board of Supervisors Chambers Thursday to make a pitch for splitting the state. It’s a much different map than the one laid out by proponents for the State of Jefferson. The divide would create a new state for 36 mostly inland counties, extending all the way down to Imperial County. The only coastal part of the state would be Del Norte County. The split would requires the consent of the original state as well as Congress. The board voted 3 to 2 in favor of a resolution of support.
