A free-for-all brawl broke out at a youth football charity tournament at Central Valley High School Saturday afternoon. But it wasn’t the players. It was their parents. The group was using the football field but was not affiliated with the high school. At one point a juvenile playing for a team from Reno was tackled by the opponents sideline and a coach for the Central Valley team picked him up and pushed him back onto the playing field. The player’s father was an assistant coach for the Reno team. When he saw the push from the other sideline he thought it was an assault and ran across the field to confront the C.V. coach. He took a swing at him but missed and his fist struck a juvenile working the sidelines. Parents from both sides then poured onto the field and started fighting each other. The Reno coach was knocked unconscious but nobody was seriously injured. When sheriff’s deputies arrived many of the people involved had left. Authorities are looking through video footage to identify offenders and determine if charges will be filed. The Reno team was removed from the rest of the tournament. Anyone with information about the incident can call 245-6540.
