The City of Redding has finally collected on a judgement against the federal government. The city had joined a lawsuit along with Roseville and Santa Clara against the Bureau of Reclamation that accused the agency of overcharging public utilities for hydroelectric power. The cities initially lost but won the suit on appeal. Of the $82 Million judgement, Redding has received about $17.4 million. The city is passing on refunds to two major customers, with the City of Shasta Lake getting nearly $1.5 Million and Redding Rancheria getting around $33,000.
