CAL FIRE is launching a project that will improve fire safety along Dersch Road. Crews will start by scraping hand lines between the roadside and the private fence lines on the portion that stretches from Millville Plains Road to the Bear Creek Bridge to prepare for the prescribed burning of roadside grasses. For the upper phase of the project from the Bear Creek Bridge to Highway 44, crews will cut and chip brush and other vegetation from the road to the fence lines. For the upper portion, one-way traffic control will be in effect from 9AM to 4:30PM. Work will take place 7 days a week when possible and it should take about a month.
