Burn permits for residential burn piles are no longer required in the area under the protection of the Shasta-Trinity Unit or the Tehama-Glenn Unit of Cal Fire. People still need to follow the guidelines, learn the rules and be sure it’s a burn day before lighting up their piles. The City of Redding is allowing burn piles through next May, but permits are required. They can be downloaded for free at reddingfire.org.
