Burn permits are suspended effective Monday by the Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit, the Tehama-Glenn Unit and the Siskiyou Unit. The relatively Wet winter had the added effect of an abundant crop of grasses and other flashy fuels, which are now drying out quickly with the increasing temperature and lower humidity. Residents still need to find ways to clear at least 100 feet of defensible space around their homes. Work should be done before 10AM without the use of metal bladed tools. The burn ban effectively is already in place because no burning can be done under red flag conditions. Tips on fire prevention can be found at readyforwildfire.org.
