Cal Fire Will Lift Burn Ban On Sunday

Agricultural and residential backyard burning may resume with permits starting Sunday in the areas under Cal Fire protection in the Shasta-Trinity, Tehama-Glenn and Siskiyou Units. Permits are required until the declared end of fire season, but they’re free. They can be obtained at burnpermit.fire.ca.gov. A permit must be in hand while burning. The ground should be scraped to the dirt ten feet around and a shovel and water supply should always be at hand. Burn piles cannot be left unattended, and they can be no larger than 4 feet wide and 4 feet high. Burning can only be done after checking that it’s a declared burn day. Information on safe burning is at fire.ca.gov. The City of Redding has not yet lifted the seasonal ban on backyard burning.
