Car Fire Shuts Down Northbound I-5 Monday Morning

The northbound lanes of Interstate 5 were completely shut down for a car fire Monday. At around 10:15AM a Subaru was completely engulfed in flames a little south of Sour Grass Creek. The driver was able to escape before the engine fire overtook the rest of the vehicle. It burned to the ground and shovels had to be used to scrape it off the asphalt. The fire spread to about an acre of vegetation as well. All northbound traffic was halted until shortly after 11AM and both lanes were open by 11:12AM.
