A caregiver has been found mentally incompetent to face charges for allegedly murdering the man he was supposed to be caring for. 28-year-old Jordan Newton Moore is accused in the stabbing death of 87-year-old Thomas Anthony Cuneo. After Cuneo hadn’t been seen for several weeks, deputies did a welfare check at his home on Kaysie Rae Court in Shingletown and found him dead. He had suffered significant trauma and died of numerous stab wounds. It was learned that Moore, who was Cuneo’s live-in caregiver, also had not been seen for several weeks. Cuneo’s car was also missing. Moore was found by police in Monterey County. Last month his attorney raised doubts about his ability to understand the charges against him. A judge ordered a psychological evaluation and at a court appearance Tuesday the judge ordered Moore to undergo treatment. He’ll return to court to be re-evaluated October 13th.
