The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly head-on crash early Monday morning on Highway 99 north of Chico. The CHP says a 60-year-old Chico man was driving a Nissan Altima northbound near Broyles Road around 3:18AM when, for unknown reasons, he crossed into southbound traffic and collided with a Kenworth truck driven by a 54-year-old Anderson man. The unidentified Altima driver was trapped in the wreckage and was eventually transported to Enloe Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 5AM. The CHP says alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors.
