A Chico man has been given a life sentence for the murder of his father. After 35-year-old Matthew Shane Theobald was released from prison his father, 54-year-old Lenny Doe, allowed him to move in to his home on West Sacramento Avenue in Chico. On September 22nd Doe asked his son to do some chores while he was away at work. When he came home and no chores had been done, the two argued and doe threatened to call Theobald’s parole agent. This angered Theobald, who went in the house and came back with a Shotgun and shot his father. Doe called 9-1-1 and could be heard running and pleading with Theobald not to shoot him again. The dispatcher then heard the final shots, both in the head. Theobald later told deputies he had reloaded the Shotgun and shot his father in the head to make sure he was dead. Thursday he was sentenced to 25 years to life plus ten years in state prison.
