The CHP is investigating an apparent hit and run that happened overnight. Shortly before 1AM a Mazda SUV coming from Westbound Highway 44 to Northbound Interstate 5 reportedly slammed into the rear of a semi truck at 80 miles an hour. The truck driver suffered whiplash but the Mazda driver apparently kept driving until the heavily damaged vehicle would go no further and stopped a little south of Shasta Dam Boulevard. The condition of that driver is not known.
