The State Attorney General’s Office has released a report on an officer involved shooting in Glenn County 3-and-a-half years ago. In April of 2023 Jesus Guzman Jr. was speeding south on Interstate 5 and a CHP Officer tried to pull him over. Guzman sped up and didn’t stop until he had to due to mechanical failure. He stopped north of Artois and ran into an Almond orchard. The officer chased him and the two struggled. Guzman punched the officer and took his Taser, which he pointed at the officer. That’s when he was shot dead. The Department of Justice cleared the officer of criminal charges, but made recommendations about use of lethal force, when to engage in a foot pursuit and when to wait for backup.
