With the Summer driving season already upon us, and a long Independence Day weekend just two weeks away, the CHP will deploy a statewide maximum enforcement period this weekend focusing on impaired drivers. All available officers will be on the roads looking for violations. During the CHP’s most recent 12-hour DUI-focused MEP, conducted in October 2025, more than 500 DUI arrests were made statewide. Officers also issued nearly 1,950 speeding citations, including nearly 100 citations for drivers traveling more than 100 MPH, and conducted more than 8,000 enforcement contacts. These enforcement efforts help remove impaired drivers from California roadways and raise public awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence. The maximum enforcement period will last for twelve hours beginning Saturday at 6PM and lasting until Sunday at 6AM.
